Canadian leader establishes Caribbean base
Acquisition marks new stage in GENIVAR's International Expansion


Montreal, Quebec – April 5, 2005 – GENIVAR, a Canadian leader in engineering and construction, announced today that is has acquired the engineering company, ADeB Consultants, in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago. ADeB, a multidisciplinary engineering company, has been successfully serving the commercial, healthcare, industrial and infrastructure installations sectors in the Caribbean since 1967.

International recognition
“GENIVAR’s long-standing expertise in managing major projects is already recognized in Canada, where the firm has carried out a considerable number of projects,” notes Vice President, Ali Ettehadieh, P. Eng. “and our international reputation has been growing steadily. In 2004, GENIVAR won a major contract through an international call for tenders for the redevelopment of the waterfront in Port of Spain.”

GENIVAR is acting as owner’s representative for the Port of Spain International Waterfront Project, which calls for the transformation of the capital city’s port area. The $ 220 million project, which will take three years to complete, will include a five-star hotel, two office towers, a conference centre and a commercial centre.

GENIVAR’s professional and client-oriented approach, as well as its commitment to high standards of performance, earned it several other projects in Trinidad and Tobago, further enhancing its expansion in that market. Over the past year, GENIVAR has developed a sizeable portfolio of projects in Trinidad and Tobago, representing more than a half billion dollars worth of work.

Solid base of operations
“This acquisition will give GENIVAR a solid base of operations to serve its growing clientele in the Caribbean,” said Pierre Shoiry, Eng., President of GENIVAR. “From that base, we hope to make a significant and lasting contribution to the development of Trinidad & Tobago and the Caribbean region as a whole.”

Allows ADeB to compete internationally
According to David Bartholomew, Manager of ADeB Consultants, GENIVAR provides his company with “a vibrant project management capability with a wide range of experience. This merger also gives us an opportunity to offer competitive services internationally.”

ADeB Consultants now has 35 employees in engineering, serving the commercial, industrial, healthcare, maritime and infrastructure installations sectors.
