The Arthur Laing Bridge provides the main arterial connection between the City of Vancouver and the Vancouver International Airport situated on Sea Island. It also provides a connection to Richmond from the City of Vancouver.
Major features of the project include:
Four lanes. A central span over the river navigation channel which is 107 m long with 61 m long side spans. These are composed of structural steel box girders with a reinforced concrete deck slab which acts compositely for live loads.
Approaches, 760 m in length, which consist of cast-in-place post tensioned box girders.
Reinforced concrete piers which are founded on either glacial till, concrete displacement piles or steel H piles.
Northerly ramps which connect to Marine Drive and provide a grade separated connection to both the easterly and westerly directions.
Northerly ramps which also overpass the Canadian Pacific V.L.I. Railway.
