GENIVAR was commissioned by the Port of Vancouver to carry out the preliminary design, detailed design and construction services for a new multi-span precast concrete, I-girder bridge over the CPR tracks at McGill Street. This bridge replaced the existing Renfrew Street overpass that was structurally and functionally deficient.
Major constraints on this project included a major water trunkmain for the City of Vancouver which required careful consideration, so as not to disturb its operation, and traffic management concern at adjacent city intersections and local businesses. Our duties also included the design and detailing of the new Commissioner Street roadway extension on the north side of the CPR.
