Detail Design Study
GENIVAR completed the Environmental Assessment, Preliminary and Detail Design Study to examine the improvement of Mer Bleue Road (Innes Road to Navan Road). The project also included the planning, design and implementation of a 700 m section of Mer Bleue Road from Innes Road to the Hydro Corridor and the assessment of roadway alignments for Mer Bleue Road from the Hydro Corridor to Navan Road.
The study assessed, developed and analyzed roadway alternatives that would provide operational improvements and greater safety than the existing roadway currently provides as well as incorporating pedestrian and cycling features, transit features and roadway capacity alternatives. The study recommendations were generated through extensive public consultation including: Technical Advisory Committee; Public Advisory Committee, three Public Open Houses; and meetings with special interest groups and property owners along the corridor.
The final study recommendations included a long range plan to implement future 4 lane arterial road and bicycle lanes to serve growth in the East Urban Community.
