In the centre of Quebec's most famous pilgrimage site, GENIVAR transformed an underused building into a veritable museum. As a result, Musée Sainte-Annede- Beaupré now enjoys access to fully modern and functional facilities and equipment. Construction was carried out in cooperation with the project manager and using competitive tendering for individual work items. Two major alterations were undertaken to create exhibition spaces, rooms and state-of-the-art lighting. The front part of the building was expanded to provide an entrance and reception area. Also, large sections of the floor were demolished to make room for a staircase and an elevator. Although highly visible, these two structural elements, essential from a vertical circulation standpoint, integrate harmoniously with the building's architecture. Much of the building's crawl space was excavated to expand the storage area and install a large mechanical equipment room. In addition, the site's very high water table necessitated the installation of a drainage system.
