Environmental qualification for the Gentilly-2 nuclear power station, Trois-Rivières, Qc, Canada
- Evaluate and estimate various technical solutions for equipment anomalies in connection with the environmental qualifications (EQs) identified at the power station (Phase I).
- Develop the solutions selected to correct the EQ equipment anomalies (Phase II).
- Correct the identified anomalies prior to restarting the power station.
''This project poses a huge challenge given the high level of technical complexity of the operations to be carried out.''
Abbès Bellil, Director, Nuclear Division
Hydro-Quebec operates the Gentilly-2 power station and is preparing to rebuild it. EQ equipment anomalies were identified and must be corrected during the stoppage in preparation for the restart. The facility has a CANDU-type reactor. This study consists of developing the selected technique, modeling it using digital and physical models, testing it to produce a cost estimate and a project schedule for developing the technique in greater detail.
