Redevelopment of the Peel Street entrance to Mont-Royal Park
Redevelopment of the Peel Street entrance to Mont-Royal Park, Montréal, Québec
City of Montreal
Restore the Peel Street entrance while maintaining ecosystem/user harmony.
Conserve Mont-Royal’s heritage value.
Restore/create wetlands and a stream to ensure better water management.
''This project is a prime example of how heritage/tourist area development can go hand in hand with efforts to improve the quality of the natural environment.''
André-Martin Bouchard, Vice-President, Environment
Our mandate consisted of designing the project, producing the plans and specifications and supervising the site in connection with the construction work carried out at the Peel Street entrance to Mont-Royal Park (construction of ledges, runoff water management, trail rehabilitation/construction, stair construction, vegetation consolidation, restoration of historic elements such as the Peel reservoir, etc.). The project was focused on surface water management in order to reduce erosion on that slope and to facilitate the creation of wetlands, thereby improving wildlife habitats. The work was carried out with a view to preserving and restoring the natural environment, ensuring harmony with the existing biophysical features and conserving Mont-Royal’s very rich heritage, social and historical value.
